The challenge
A marketplace with many product categories can't use one list of “high DR” sites for everything.
- Finding publishers whose readers actually buy or use creative assets
- Looking past headline metrics to the real quality of each site
- Matching each target page to an article where the link makes sense
- Keeping anchors and placements natural across many categories
- Tracking dozens of publishers, briefs and live URLs without losing anything
What we did
- 1
Publisher research by audience
We shortlisted design, web development, marketing and productivity blogs, then checked who reads them: tutorials and resource lists for creatives ranked far above general news sites.
- 2
Contextual placements
Links were placed inside articles that genuinely discussed the topic of the target page, such as a guide to presentation design linking to presentation templates, so the reader has a reason to click.
- 3
Quality over metrics
Domain Rating narrowed the list; organic traffic, content quality and outbound-link patterns decided it. Sites that sold links to anyone on any topic were dropped.
- 4
One record for the whole campaign
Every placement was logged with its publisher, target URL, anchor text and live link, so the work could be checked at any time.
What we checked on every placement
A link only went ahead if the publisher passed all of these, whatever its Domain Rating.
- The site's topic matches the target page
- Real organic traffic, not just a high DR
- Original, useful articles
- No pages crowded with unrelated outbound links
- The link sits in the body of a relevant article
What we learned
- Relevance beats authority when the two pull in different directions
- The article around the link matters as much as the domain
- Good records make quality easy to prove later
- Judge results on documented SEO data, not assumptions
A note on results
We don't publish traffic, ranking or revenue figures for a client's campaign unless the data is verified and the client has agreed to it. Rankings also move for many reasons besides links, so we would rather show you how we work than claim numbers we can't prove.
